On the way up the Serra da Bocaina, the visitor has a taste of the beauties to come: breathtaking views of the mountains and rustic roads bordered by ferns accessible preferably by 4×4 vehicles.
In the Sertão da Onça, we visit the magnificent Jacu Pintado Waterfall and the delightful Espraiado Waterfall, both within easy reach on foot. Then, a 3 km walk (round trip) along a trail in the forest that borders the river leads to the Onça Cave. Sometimes a flock of howler monkeys will make their impressingly loud presence known.
On the way to Onça Cave, the trail passes through two more beautiful waterfalls. Safety equipment has to be used to cross the river at the top of the second waterfall.
There are few caves of gneiss, a rock derived from granite, in the country. The Onça Cave is the largest of its kind in Brazil. From its entrance to the lowest point, the difference in height is 60 meters. The light from the flashlight reveals the beauty of the colored mosaics hidden in the darkness.
Our itineraries are carefully prepared for your safety.
We take care of our forests. For each visitor we take on our tours, we plant a native tree from the Atlantic Forest by abseiling in places that are difficult to reach. The planting is a partnership with Amovale and One Tree Planted.
